AITA for Catching My Boyfriend Asleep in My Bed With His “Coworker” While My Family Was Visiting?
I am a 28F and have been with my boyfriend a 30M for almost four years and thought we were solid until I came back early from a work trip and noticed strange things in my apartment that didn’t make sense like moved furniture missing blanket and his late shifts not matching up with what his coworker a 26F had told me earlier that week.
My best friend 27F was supposed to meet me at my place that night and my sister 25F was already visiting from another city with my roommate 29M who had been acting awkward all week and avoiding eye contact whenever I mentioned my boyfriend staying over while I was gone.
Yesterday I got home earlier than planned and immediately noticed my boyfriend’s shoes at the door and a pair of heels I had never seen before and when I walked toward the bedroom I heard soft breathing and my heart dropped as I pushed the door open and saw them asleep in my bed while my phone rang and my sister stood behind me whispering not to react because they were waking up.
For a second I just stood there holding the doorframe because my brain genuinely refused to process what I was seeing. My boyfriend (30M) was on my bed fully under the blanket, and the coworker (26F) was right beside him like it was the most normal thing in the world. They weren’t even hiding it properly—just completely comfortable, like I was the intruder in my own apartment.
My phone kept ringing in my hand, probably my best friend (27F) outside wondering why I had gone silent. My sister (25F) grabbed my wrist gently and whispered again that I should not lose control because my roommate (29M) had already texted her saying “this is worse than we thought.”
Then my boyfriend woke up first.
He blinked at me, confused for maybe two seconds, and then his face changed instantly when he realized I was standing there. The coworker sat up fast, pulling the blanket like that would fix anything. My boyfriend tried to say my name, but I cut him off and asked him how long exactly this had been happening in my bed.
That’s when everything exploded.
He jumped out of bed, half-dressed and panicking, saying it “just happened once” and that they “fell asleep after talking.” The coworker didn’t even correct him—just stayed quiet, which honestly said enough. My sister stepped forward and told him she had already seen messages on his phone days ago and he froze completely.
My best friend finally came inside because she heard shouting, and when she saw the scene, she literally said, “oh my god, you actually did it in her house?” That’s when the coworker started crying, saying she didn’t know I still lived there often because he told her I was “basically moved out already.”
That made everything worse.
Because that was a lie.
My roommate confirmed immediately that I had been living there full-time, and suddenly my boyfriend’s story started collapsing. He went from denial to excuses to blaming stress at work within minutes. At one point he even said I was “overreacting to sleeping.”
I told him to get out.
Not later. Not after talking. Right then.
My sister and roommate backed me up, and my best friend started helping me put his things in trash bags while he kept trying to follow me around the apartment arguing. The coworker left first, still crying, clearly realizing she had walked into something way bigger than she was told.
After they left, it didn’t stop.
He kept texting for days saying I humiliated him by “making it a scene” in front of my sister and friend. He also claimed I should have handled it privately instead of confronting him while he was “half asleep and disoriented,” which honestly made me angrier.
My roommate ended up telling me he had been sneaking her in for weeks when I was gone, always claiming I was out of town longer than I actually was. That part hurt more than the actual moment of catching them.
Now half our mutual friends are split. Some say I was right to expose it immediately because it happened in my own home. Others say I should’ve waited until he was fully awake and not in front of other people.
So AITA for walking in and exposing him like that instead of dealing with it privately first?
