AITA for exposing my manager’s affair with a coworker during a company meeting?

I (28F) work in a mid-size marketing firm and my manager (35M) has always been strict but respected. Over the past few months, I noticed unusual late-night emails between him and a coworker (26F) that didn’t match any project. At first I ignored it, but then I saw them leaving office together repeatedly and acting too familiar during meetings. Things escalated when I accidentally received a forwarded email chain revealing hotel bookings under their initials. I started collecting proof because I knew HR (40F) would need undeniable evidence before taking action. Today, during a mandatory all-hands meeting with the manager’s wife present as a guest speaker, everything finally came to a head. I had prepared a presentation to expose everything when I was about to project screenshots on the conference screen when my manager suddenly stood up and walked toward me in front of everyone while HR was already in the room watching closely and the coworker looked pale sitting at the back trying not to react as whispers spread across the table I felt my hands shaking when he reached for my laptop from my hands—

For a second, the entire room froze. My manager actually tried to laugh it off, saying I was “misusing company equipment,” but HR immediately stepped in and told him to sit down. I still remember his wife slowly standing up from the guest chair, confused at first, then watching the screen as I finally managed to connect the laptop to the projector anyway.

The screenshots went up anyway.

Emails. Hotel bookings. Late-night Slack messages that were clearly not work-related. The room didn’t even need my explanation; it was all there in black and white. The coworker (26F) started crying almost instantly and rushed out of the room. My manager’s face went completely pale, like all the authority he had built just evaporated in seconds.

HR (40F) ended the meeting immediately and escorted both of them out. Later that day, we were informed that both had been placed on suspension pending investigation. The wife didn’t say a word during the meeting, but I saw her leave the building without even looking at him.

What I didn’t expect was the fallout afterward. Some colleagues said I was brave, others said I “publicly humiliated” them instead of letting HR handle it privately. One senior even told me I should’ve gone through a quieter channel instead of exposing it in front of everyone.

Now the office feels split. HR hasn’t decided if I broke any internal protocol by presenting it the way I did, even though they admitted the evidence was valid and already under review.

I keep replaying it in my head—whether I should’ve waited or if I just made everything worse by choosing the worst possible moment.

AITA for exposing it the way I did in front of the entire company?
